ALL ABOUT GEMS

MY LOVE FOR GEMSTONES
Since 1991, my work has been centered around gemstones. I love gemstones and pearls. Their colours and structures are nature's rich creations. Individually or even better, in combination, they create colourful magic by highlighting and enhancing the shades mutually.
Gemstones remind me of the feeling you get when you step into an old-fashioned Parisian candy store. Golden pearls, emeralds green as grass, red garnets, pink opals, and blue amazonites – they all tempt like a colourful bowl of sweets.
When traveling the world, you encounter them in exotic destinations such as India, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Madagascar, Thailand, and on the African continent.
Gemstones are nature's wonderful creations. They are formed under intense pressure in rocky and mountainous regions and extracted from mines or found in riverbeds. Chemistry and temperatures are the decisive factors for the gemstones' colours. They all have their distinctive character, are extremely varied, and available in every shade one can imagine.
Gemstones often have inclusions that affect their expression. The gemstones' colours range from transparent to completely opaque. Gemstones are cut in facets or cabochon, depending on structure, density, and colour as well as taste.

THE MAGICAL WORLD OF GEMSTONES
Gemstones are cut in countless shapes. The cutting of gemstones aims to bring out the best expression in each stone. Additionally, a gemstone can be cut to order when a special design and appearance are desired.
Transparent gemstones are typically cut in facets, while opaque gemstones are cut in cabochon. The depth and intensity of the color in the gemstone lie in the hands of the gemstone cutter, combined with the designer's vision for the finished
Jewellery. Gemstones can be recycled infinitely. Thus, an heirloom can be transformed around the gemstone and gain a new and meaningful expression.
Jewellery that needs a new life can also be recycled so that silver or gold is melted down and the gemstones are reused.
Over the years, I have collected large amounts of pearls and gemstones. These beauties retain their qualities and can therefore be used for new jewellery.
That is why we create some jewellery in our workshop in Copenhagen with recycled gemstones.
