EVERYTHING ABOUT GEMSTONES

MY LOVE OF GEMSTONES
Since 1991, my work has been centered around gemstones. I love gemstones and pearls. Their colours and structures are nature's rich creations. On their own, or even better, in combination, they create a colourful magic by enhancing and emphasize each other's nuances.
Gemstones remind me of the feeling you get when you step into an old fashioned Parisian bon-bon shop. Golden pearls, emeralds as green as grass, red garnets, pink opals, and blue amazonites - they all tempt like a colourful bowl of bonbons.
If you travel out into the world, you will meet them on destinations such as India, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Madagascar, Thailand, and sprinkled across the African continent.
Gemstones are nature's wonderful creations. They're created under intense pressure in cliffs and moutains and found in mines or riverbeds. Chemistry and temperatures are the determining factors when it comes to the colour of each gemstone. They each have their own characteristics, are extremely varied, and available in every nuance imaginable.
Gemstones often have inclusions which affects their expression. The colour of gemstones vary from transparent to completely opaque. Gemstones are cut into facets or cabochon, depending on structure, hardness, colour, and personal taste.

THE MAGIC WORLD OF GEMSTONES
Gemstones are cut in an array of shapes. The cut of gemstones have the purpose of bringing out the best possible expression in each stone. Furthermore, gemstones can be cut to order when a specific design is wanted.
Transparent gemstones are typically cut in facets, while opaque gemstones are cut in cabochon. The depth and intensity of the gemstone's colour lie in the hands of the cutter, combined with the designer's vision for the complete piece. Gemstones can be recycled infinitely. Thus, heirlooms can be transformed around the gemstone and get a new, meaningful look.
Jewellery that needs new life can likewise be reused, where silver or gold is melted and the gemstones recycled.
Throughout the years, I have gathered large amounts of Pearls and gemstones. These beauties retain their qualities and can be reused for new jewellery.
That's why we create some jewellery in our Copenhagen workshop with reused gemstones.
