HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR LABRADORITE JEWELLERY
Labradorite is a feldspar gemstone that is relatively easy to keep shiny and clean. When cleaning your Labradorite jewelry, use warm water, mild soap and a soft brush to clean the stone. Avoid cleaning your jewellery with Labradorite in ultrasonic cleaners or with steam, as this can damage the stone.
Remember that you can always have your Carré jewellery professionally cleaned at your Carré store.

HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE
Labradorite was officially discovered in the Labrador region of Canada in the year 1770 and got its name after that. However, folklore has it that the gemstone with the magical glow was discovered long before. Inuit and Beothuk legends say that the Northern Lights are trapped inside Labrador's stone - a warrior is said to have tried to free the light with his spear, but the gemstone's powers were so strong that the spectrum of light crystallized even further inside the stone.

GEMMOLOGY OF LABRADORITE
Labradorite is part of the feldspar family and is mainly mined in Australia, Greenland, Norway, Finland, Mexico, Madagascar, USA, Canada and Russia. Labradorite's internal structure allows it to reflect light back in blue, orange and green colors. This optical effect is called Labradorescence. When measuring the hardness of a gemstone, you use the Mohs Hardness Scale. The scale varies from 1-10, where 10 is the hardest - here lies the diamond, which is the hardest gemstone. Labradorite is 6-6.5 on the Mohs Hardness Scale.
