HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE

An ancient Greek legend connects rutilated quartz with Venus, the Goddess of love. She lost a strand of her beautiful, golden hair, and travelled down to Earth to retrieve it. To her dismay, she found her hair frozen in a block of ice. When she took a second look at her hair, she noticed how beautiful the scene was, and turned the ice into a hard, clear stone, meant to encapsulate her hair forever.
