Tiger's Eye is a medium-hard gemstone that is easy to keep beautiful for many years. We always recommend that you take off your jewellery with Tiger's Eye when you sleep, exercise, or do physical work to avoid shocks, scratches, and unnecessary wear on the beautiful stone.

To clean your jewellery with Tiger's Eye, you can use lukewarm water, mild soap, and a soft brush or cloth to clean around the stone. We do not recommend cleaning your Tiger's Eye jewellery in an ultrasonic cleaner.

HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE

Throughout human history, Tiger's Eye has fascinated many different cultures since it was discovered by ancient civilizations. Roman soldiers wore this stone for protection when going into battle, often in their breastplates, as at that time, the stone was a symbol of strength, confidence, and good luck. They hoped the stone would give them the strength and patience of a real tiger.

In the Middle Ages, Tiger's Eye stones were worn as pendants, as the stone was then thought to repel spells and the 'Evil Eye'.

Native Americans regarded Tiger's Eye as a very powerful, sacred stone, and it was also believed to repel witchcraft and evil spirits.

In China, the stone was considered a stone of luck. It is still used today in feng shui, where it brings positive energies when placed in the home.

In ancient Egypt, tiger's eye was associated with the gods of the sun and land, Ra and Geb. The gemstone often decorated the eyes of ancient Egyptian statues.

Tiger's eye can display the optical phenomenon, chatoyancy, which appears as a streak of reflected light across the surface of the gemstone. This gemstone is rated 7 on the Mohs hardness scale, along with the rest of the quartz family. Tiger's eye can be mined in South Africa, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Australia, Namibia, Myanmar, India, and the USA.
